AI Presenters and Walkthrough Videos: Try Free First
A photo and a script can become a talking presenter, and a folder of listing photos can become a walkthrough video. Interesting, useful in the right spot, and easy to get wrong. Here is how to try it without spending a dollar.
The whole play, at a glance
- Pick one small jobA listing introduction.
- Try the free versionD-ID inside Canva, HeyGen, Descript.
- Make one testPhoto, script, generate.
- Show it to three peopleWould they trust it?
- Then decidePay only if it earned it.
- You walk away withA test video and a decision, not a subscription you forgot about.
You walk away withOne short test video, and a clear answer to whether this is worth your money.
What you need
- A clear, front-facing headshot with good light.
- A short script. Your listing description works. Thirty seconds, not three minutes.
- Canva on a computer. The D-ID app does not run on the phone app.
- Brad's rule: free before fee. Nothing here needs a paid plan to try.

The steps
One step open at a time. Click "Done, next" to move on. The grey boxes show what the screen looks like; they are pictures, not buttons.
This is many people's first impression of you. A stiff, odd-looking presenter costs you trust you cannot buy back. So pick one small, low-risk job: a thirty-second listing introduction, a "what to bring to closing" reminder. Not your main video.
Open a design. Click Apps on the left, search for D-ID AI Avatars, and open it. The first time, it asks you to connect a D-ID account; the free trial is enough for a test. Choose a presenter or upload your headshot, paste your script, pick a voice, and generate.

D-ID is a separate company with an app inside Canva, not part of Canva. Trial videos carry a watermark, which is fine for a test and not fine for a client.

- Descript is Brad's favorite for editing. Upload a recording, and it turns the video into text. Delete a sentence and the video is cut. It removes "ums" and long pauses, and it can clip a long training into short pieces. It has a presenter feature too.
Both have free versions. Use them for the test. Keeping your own saved presenter is where the paid plans start.
You do not need a special tool for this one. Open ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, upload your listing photos, and say: "Make me a video walkthrough using these photos. Start at the front of the home, then the living room, then the kitchen." Then: "Overlay me as the tour guide," with a photo of you.
The catch: it does not remember you next time. Every video starts from scratch. That is fine for a test.

If the test earned a call or a compliment, pick the one tool that did it and pay for that one. If it did not, you spent thirty minutes and no money, and you know. Either way, cancel the trials you are not using.

Watch out for
Trust is the whole game.
A bad presenter is a bad first impression that a real person then has to undo. When in doubt, be on camera yourself for ten seconds instead.
The watermark.
Free trial videos from D-ID carry a full-screen watermark. Test with it, never send it to a client.
Your face is already out there.
Worried about uploading a headshot? Your license photo, your signs and your website already have it. Use a headshot you are happy with and move on.
Free before fee.
Every tool here has a free version. Pay only after it has earned its keep, and cancel the ones that did not.
